Jane Shryock This reminds me of a sex offender registry. I can see it being useful, but I still think the best option is to put down the dangerous animals. I guess the only way to get anything done about this in a lot of areas is to start a massive negotiation process with the pit bull advocates. It seems like a huge waste of money and time, but if it produces results, I can't be against it.

An interactive map gives the names and addresses of Minneapolis residents who own "dangerous" dogs.

  • Mary McKee We need this here in Pennsylvania.
  • Weldon Smith Cities send out public notices on water quality, upcoming construction, road reroutes, etc....in my opinion because not everyone especially parents may be aware of this mapping, then cities that dont have restrictions on owning the breed should send every residence a printed copy of these maps. It is at least a great thing for those aware of its existance in knowing where to avoid and above all to keep kids away from those known addresses or areas. And I hope the owners dont feel like they are being discriminated or singled out because this benefits them too to lessen the chance of an incident occurring which they would be liable for.
  • Jane Shryock Weldon, that is a fantastic idea. Hopefully something like that will be implimented soon.
  • Gwendolyn Hanan It is exactly the same as a sex offender registry, and the pit bulls are just as much a threat and incursion into a neighborhood's peace, safety and quality as a child molester or rapist moving into the basement apartment of a house across the street from a K-12 school will be. You can shoot a perv with less blowback than you can shoot a pit bull...... so in essence, living with pervs is the safer option for you and your children.... How insane is THAT!!
  • Helga Joubert I don't see why these dogs are even allowed to be there in the first place. if they are known to be dangerous, why aren't they confiscated and put down?
  • Julie Edwards-Matanga Wouldn't it just be cheaper and easier to send them to one address...the rainbow bridge?
  • Thomas McCartney In the case of all pit bull type dogs the asbestos bridge should be their destination point.!!
  • Tricia Malone I am so shocked that most of them are pit bulls...eye roll.
  • Johnna Harvard I trully think is a great start seeing how property trumps safety, if johns dad had know there was a pit bull..he just thought a dog was a dog...living next door he would have been much more aware of the damger and not felt safe letting john play outside. They need to notify all who live around dangerous dogs.
  • Johnna Harvard Danger**
  • Jennifer Sue Scott Amen, Johnna Harvard. Totally agree. It's not right we have to live not knowing if our surroundings are dangerous. I pay wayyyyy too much in taxes for that bs. This is brilliant.
  • Heather Lynn Hudak I live here and the two biggest problems already are St Paul's dept refuses to do list the same because people get pissed their addresses are listed...tough crap...public notice required...second problem is a dog on mpls list can move to new county andautomatically is removed from list? Court hearing Monday April 20th for case of Shoreview dog killed...hoping for more info Monday from hearing officer...mpls list ROCKS! Hoping to see judge about making state registry to tie up loopholes...anyone want to go? St Paul Minnesota Courthouse. ...probably Kellogg branch...Tom was on vacation till Monday so will know soon!
  • Sandrine Sandy Georges it's like sex offenders... they live among us and if you choose to look at the list you are in for a stressful night... I could not believe how many lived right by my daughter's elementary school...
  • Brenda Carr It's a step in the right direction. At least people can be aware, if they choose to be.
  • Crystal Ross Keller I've made my own map for my kids. My teenager was explaining to me how she would avoid certain houses we know that have pit bulls, & it just seemed so wrong that she would have to map it out or worry about it. Now imagine having five kids that want to just get out after a long winter. We are basically forced to haul everyone & the dogs to a safer area just to walk. And I live in a Mayberry town that has just recently been infested with these land sharks.

  • Thomas McCartney They say animal aggression does not equate to human aggression yet they have examples where a mutant attacked and animal & then later low and behold attacked a human, so much for that theory.!!!!!!!!!

  • Thomas McCartney Once a dog attacks livestock they can not be fixed and WILL do it again and should be put down 100% of the time.Same thing with a serious attack on something on 2 or 4 legs, it will happen again, you can not retrain or rehab or love that reality away, that is why second chances such as that are asinine and unacceptable.
