Lesley Karen Luscombe I didn't know cock-fighting was an issue in England. Dog-fighting is down to many factors. Easy availability of fighting breed dogs like Staffies and American Pit dogs and their mixes, unmothered youths with no work, no education, no values; useless reporting systems and pathetic police work, a big Irish connection with dog-fighting which will never be stopped, but mostly it's down to bored, angry young men with nothing better to do, who are filled with their own rage and disappointment at life who can live out their violent feelings and bravado through their dogs. PLUS it's illegal, which adds a layer of 'spice' to everything. And money. Money to be made from pups out of proven parents, and money to be made from betting on the winning dogs

Oh dear, how simply terrible. Everything is going wrong here in the UK at the moment and the last thing we need is more dog fighting, or cockfighting (I didn't know about that last thing).
The RSPCA announced in February that organized dog fighting and cockfighting reports in the UK had gone up by a third in the past five years nationwide, reports...

  • Carol Ashley I read an article couple days ago, talking about Pit Bull and PB mixes are banned in the UK, there was one paragraph saying certain people can keep theres with a permit, insurance, special confinement and muzzles. What I have learned in my almost 60 yrs on this earth is that even with things banned you can still get anything in the black market. People will just find a better way of hiding what is banned including PB's. I feel the government and AC needs better laws and unprovoked dog and human aggressive dogs should be PTS and not handed over to anyone. In my life I have had 3 PB at different times. The first was very sweet and passed at 12, the second was very protective of the family and house and had to be watched she lived to 16, the 3rd was fine until she reached 9 yrs old and attacked the greyhound in the house and she almost died, The PB was never the same after and couldnt be trusted with dogs, she went blood crazy, I was going to Put her to sleep, my brother and dad didnt agree with me and took her over the border to Mexico and gave her to a friend, while I was at work and refused to tell me who, I told them she was a danger to the public. I have never had a PB since. I like them, but they need a certain type of person and the majority of people who have them should not. I now have Bassets, such an easy going no issue dog

  • Lesley Karen Luscombe Huge weapons Staffords are openly paraded in public. American style Pit Bull Terriers are openly paraded in public. Everyone only gets outraged when a child dies, but then the outrage fizzles out into nothingness. The UK is useless at Enforcement. BUT they will get outraged over a bit of dog-fighting, and over a longer period of time than they do for the death of a child, or the dozens of children that receive mutilating 'bite' injuries from Staffordshire Bull Terriers of varying sizes.

    This country is a puke.
