Mom Here~ I am writing this with tears streaming down my face and so much anger. Clara of Clicks for Clara was stabbed at an adoption event today after a small scuffle with another dog the little dog is fine and has been treated for minor wounds. Clara has been euthinized. I am HORRIFIED that this took place and especially happening in a public place with children as witnesses. The man stabbed her 4-5 times screaming "Fucking Pit Bulls" with each stab. This weekend is my 9 year anniversary of Pit Bull Rescue and Advocacy and although we have come a long way in 9 years changing the perception of our wonderful dogs.... this story makes me feel like we haven't mad any real change. I am beyond heartbroken for this girl who has died for many reasons but mostly because of someone hating her breed. I am devastated, sick to my stomach and filled with so much anger. This could have been one of my boys, this could have been any of the wonderful Pit Bulls I've met, know and loved over the last 9 years. I am at a loss. Clara, I am soooo sorry that you lost your life today, I am so sorry we as humans failed you in so many ways. My heart is broken for you. We WILL get justice for you sweet girl, I PROMISE. Fly free and at peace sweet girl.


This is a detailed description of what happened today.
We are incredibly sickened to share this story with you. Clara died today. Yet AGAIN an instance of what it's like to have a pittie here in Georgia (The Intro is copied from @Stubby's Heroes):

Today, Clara was taken from boarding available through the Coweta Newnan Humane Soc to an adoption event at the Petsmart in Newnan, GA. Several witnesses said that a small dog growled at Clara and they tussled for a second. Clara got the small dogs ear but the person that was there to adopt Clara got Clara off. Suddenly, the small dogs owner pulled out a knife and proceeded to knife Clara. Several witnesses with small children said the same thing - the small dog started, the dogs were controlled and separate when the small dogs owner attacked Clara.
From a witness, as said to me, while hysterical crying:
"Clara just lay there, almost smiling with her mouth wide open, not fighting back, as the crazed man continued to knife Clara. It was a bloodbath. He knifed her over and over and over and she just lay there. She did not fight back. There was blood everywhere. My child was there, several children watched and cried and screamed. The crazed mans' own son was just quiet, looking around, in amazement, it seemed."

And then:
"This man had a large knife and kept stabbing her, it must have been about four or five times. There was blood everywhere. The Petsmart Mgr had tears in his eyes and gave (name here) a hug. He cried"
"We all knew Clara for about two years. Clara was kenneled with other dogs at the boarding facility. Everyone loved Clara, and Clara loved children"
Clara is at the Banfield Animal Clinic in Newnan and may not make it. We are putting together a chip-in quickly to help the Humane Soc with her care. PLEASE, please, share this, and once it's up, send a few bucks. I'm afraid that the HS will put down Clara thinking that she is a liability when she is not.
These witnesses all filed the same police report and tomorrow they are picking them up. Additionally, the small dog did behaved normally, those that contacted us said that they did not see the small dog with any wounds, and the attacker was allowed to walk out after the police arrived.
"This man kept saying something like 'these f-g pit bulls! these f-g pit bulls!" as he stabbed her.
"When he was leaving I said to him between tears, You are really a piece of Sh*t, you know that?" He smirked at me. He smirked at me and his little boy, he kept turning around, and looking over his shoulder. The little boy was terrified".
The police took several statements from eye witnesses and were told to pick them up tomorrow. This man allegedly had a concealed weapon. We are waiting for more details.
Two hours later, the Coweta Newnan Humane Society authorized that Banfield put Clara down. They said that three of her wounds were substantial and that she would not have a quality life, and that now they were concerned about her future, and if anyone would ever adopt her since she had been without a family for over a year. RIP little Clara.
Friends, tomorrow we will get the details and help as we can. I ask that you say a prayer, send positive thoughts and healing energy to the volunteers, to the staff at Banfield, and all that loved Clara off-site today that are feeling guilty for not being at adoptions today ("I would have had Clara. I could have stopped that man"), and those that witnessed this horrible, heinous crime - the consumers, volunteers, shoppers, management, veterinary staff....
Please let's not bash the Banfield team, or Petsmart, or the Humane Society. Let's remain calm and cool for Clara. And please, show your pets and your foster dogs, and the shelter dogs you will be walking this evening, some extra love and attention from Clara.

a small terrier pit mix was found lying in a Good Samaritans' yard with an arrow protruding from his body. Authorities were called and canine was transported for emergency care. What the authorities found was startling: 4 inches of arrow was protruding from Robin Hoods' body while 11 inches was inside his body, deflecting off a bony area narrowly missing any vital organs. Robin Hood survived this horrific injury and still requiring medical care.

Jones County Ga family mourns the loss of "Boss"
Today in Jones County off Hwy 49 a family discovered the lifeless body of their beloved pet. Dumped in the yard Boss had been shaved, his throat slit nearly decapitating him. He was castrated, gutted and his beautiful brown eyes gouged out. SGT Travis Douglas of the Jones County Sheriffs office will be handling the investigation. AT THE POUND NOW, STABLE BUT NEEDS FURTHER MEDICAL ATTENTION DUE TO INJURIES.

GUNSHOT victim- URGENT rescue needed!!! Springfield, TN Animal Control.

Folks PLEASE save this dog!!! She was tied to a local vet's doorknob with only a note and obvious gunshot wounds in her body!! She was subsequently turned over to animal control. She is declared stable but NEEDS further medical attention and rescue. Pitties use dto not get a chance to be rescued from this animal control but now they can be IF we can find her a rescue. PLEASE!!!!

23 Lampasas Texas 28Sept2014 I hate to post something like this but.....i was driving down my rd and saw a bunch of buzzards hanging around the edge of the rd. First thought was someone hit a deer. As I got closer I saw what appeared to be a dead goat tied to a small tree. The more I looked it wasn't a goat. It was a dog. I drove off thinking "Thats fucked up!" Didn't get far before I was like " Can't let that dog stay like that for the buzzards to get" I went back to where it was, got out and saw no collar, and was shot in the head. Don't know what the dog did to deserve this kind of death, I drug him further into the brush. I hope whoever did this sees this post and realize they did a fucked up thing. Especially to just leave it tied by the side of the rd for every passerby to see.
