It's hard not too feel sorry for Sandra as she's obviously suffering from Cynophobia an irrational fear of dogs and this so called victims advocacy group only make matters worse by enabling and encouraging her behavior.

Tomorrow is our annual St Andrews Mardi Gras pets&kids parade and I normally enjoy participating with my little dogs in such activities,but I am rightfully worried some ding dong idiot pit bull owner will show up with their pibbles in a crowd of children and other dogs.So i and my little dogs will not be participating.Yes they ruin it for everyone.I want to take my little dogs to the St Andrews Mardi Gras,but again some pit bull owners will inevitably bring their pibbles too.Dogs are allowed at the Mardi Gras here.Its only a matter of time that one will go full pit on another dog and or person at this event and then no dogs will be allowed.Pitbulls and their owners are ruining it for all pet owners.

Sandra Fuller Brandi Hodgson I knocked it off the counter without the safety lock on my can.Had to clear the house for 20 minutes I could barely breathe,nose running & eyes watering.

Brandi Hodgson Mine was an old can that had been in the camper for years, frozen every winter. Wasn't even sure if it worked any more. My husband tested it outside and I stuck my head out the door just as the wind was carrying it past. I cannot even imagine how painful a direct shot of non-expired spray would hurt!

Vonnie Harvey Dunn A pit can easily tear up a pet stroller and can't be contained in a normal carrier so, while it may give you some time, it may not protect your dog. We just keep giving ground. If one goes pit hopefully it will be at owner or a politician who is against BSL.

Joanna McGinn well, then that is every where and every event. IMO... I'd keep a pre-written note that you can adapt to each event and send it to the organizers that you will not participate where people bring Pit Bulls or other bully dogs or over a certain size (even an excitable lab or Golden is annoying or dangerous to a child)... and mention that there are numerous others who feel the same way.

Linda Ann I know exactly how you feel Sandra. I have a 6 year old daughter and I have definitely adjusted the way we do everything. We stay away from dog centered events and I don't go to any kind of thing where there may be pits unless I can carry my gun. Even with my gun, I would immediately move far away from any pit bull (if not leave the event altogether). And now since I know the danger, I'm vigilant about knowing if those monsters are anywhere near us. It is a shame that we have to alter our lives to accommodate assholes who want to keep dangerous animals as pets. I can't even wrap my mind around how these people willingly expose their children to these monsters.

As you can see no-one in this group even attempts to dispel her fears after all the chances of being killed by a dog in America is negligible compared to other causes of death and your pet is far more likely to be killed by a cop then another dog.

These facebook groups claim to be acting in the interests of community safety whereas investigation quickly reveals activity like this where they seem to be using victims to further their plot against pit bulls.

It's more accurate to say it's people like these that ruin public events with their fear mongering relentlessly claiming to be the majority in spite of all the evidence confirming they are an extremely small group estimated at approximately 220-250 active participants with little to no support among the broader community.
